Mena Lodge, Musician. In celebration of the receipt of a $10,000 arts infrastructure grant!

We're excited to announce that The Town of Deer Lake is the recipient of a $10,000 grant through the The Arts Infrastructure and Programming Fund! Our new Annex at the Hodder will soon be the home to live events including music, storytelling and more! To celebrate, we talked with longtime performing artist, Mena Lodge. Mena tells us stories from years gone by when she would play various venues in Deer Lake and we talk about the joy of connecting with audience members in an intimate venue like our Annex Studio. Olivia McKay always dreamed of working with animals, but a mixed up post-secondary application landed her in dog grooming school instead of Vet Tech training! Turns out, being a professional dog groomer is where she was meant to be all along. Hear Olivia's story of entrepreneurship straight out of school and the creative way she is engaging with Deer Lakers and their beloved pets for Canada Day Weekend celebrations. 

The Treehouse Family Resource Centre - Deer Lake

The Treehouse Family Resource Centre's Executive Director, Crystal Major, joins host, Gloria Field, for Episode 2 of The Spark to share all about The Treehouse Family Resource Centre in Deer Lake. Crystal tells us about the programs that are available at The Treehouse and she and Gloria discuss importance of early learning for kids.
